TPD Compliance

All products sold on Anicres UK’s website fully comply with TPD Regulations. Discover more below about the TPD regulations, and their implications for vapers.

What Is TPD?

TPD, or Tobacco Products Directive (Tobacco Products Directive 2014/14/EU), is an initiative by the EU designed to regulate tobacco products, their advertising, and sales to consumers. The goal is to enhance health protection and awareness surrounding tobacco products, covering every aspect from manufacturing to retail, including vaping technology and e-liquids. TPD ensures that ingredients are tested before sale, displayed on packaging, and also regulates where tobacco products can be used and how they are taxed.

Why Does It Apply To Vaping?

Vaping products are considered tobacco products, despite not containing tobacco leaf itself. The nicotine used in e-liquid is often derived from the tobacco plant, leading to its inclusion under TPD regulations. While synthetic nicotine alternatives exist, any product containing nicotine falls under TPD regulations.

When Did It Come Into Effect? Established in May 2014, TPD became law on May 20, 2016. For vaping retailers, this meant selling any remaining non-compliant stock before this date. Consequently, certain brands may no longer be available, and the method of e-liquid sales has evolved.

What Are The Regulations/How Does It Affect Vaping? Several regulations impact vaping, primarily concerning the capacity of e-cigarettes and how e-liquid is sold. From a consumer’s perspective, many aspects remain unchanged, with the main alteration being the labeling requirements for e-cigarette products.

  • E-cigarette tanks, including pod systems and disposable vapes, can now only contain a maximum of 2ml of e-liquid.
  • The maximum bottle size for nicotine-containing e-liquid is now 10ml.
  • The highest strength nicotine e-liquid available is 20mg.
  • All nicotine-containing e-liquids must be packaged in child-resistant bottles.
  • Products cannot contain caffeine or taurine.
  • Packaging must indicate the presence of nicotine and highlight nicotine as an addictive substance.
  • All e-cigarettes and e-liquids must be submitted to the MHRA for approval before sale.

What Anicres UK Is Doing To Be Compliant

Since TPD came into effect, Anicres UK has diligently followed the guidelines to achieve complete TPD compliance. All tanks offered, whether standalone or part of a kit, adhere to the 2ml maximum capacity. E-liquids containing nicotine are sold in 10ml maximum capacity bottles. Larger bottles with nicotine are available as short fills, mixed with a concentrated 10ml bottle for lower-dose nicotine strength.

Each e-liquid produced by Anicres UK has been submitted to the MHRA for certification, all of which have passed and declared TPD compliant.

None of the products available on the Anicres UK website or in stores contain taurine or caffeine. Additionally, all products are diacetyl-free, with ingredients listed on packaging along with a nicotine warning.
